ALLBIRDS – a sustainable shoe brand

ALLBIRDS

Allbirds is a sustainable shoe brand with a B Corp certification. To produce their shoes, they use natural materials like wool from merino sheep but always ensuring that the wool is held to high standards of farming, land management and animal welfare.

Also, they use Tree Fiber – TencelTM Lyocell with an FSC Certification, which means that the company sources materials that meet strict standards to protect forests, and the animals and people who depend on them.

Another material they use is sugarcane to make SweetFoam, to make the shoe soles, and make them more comfortable. SweetFoam is a renewable resource that grows quickly, removing carbon from the atmosphere in the process.

Finally, they use Trino, a new fiber made from tree materials + Merino Wool.

Allbirds measures everything that contributes to their carbon footprint, from the factory floor to the lights in HQ (see image below). They track their emissions throughout five different areas: materials, manufacturing, transportation, product use and end of life.
