The future becomes reality through the project entitled “Etherique”, the first sustainable luxury line presented by the style office of Drago Lanificio in Biella, created, and crafted using Kapok, a precious natural fiber considered the lightest in the world.
Kapok is totally organic: it develops spontaneously in nature, it is extracted by hand from the pods, 10/15 cm long, of the Ciba plant, it has a density of 0.35 g/cm³ (21.85 lb/ft³) and a hollow structure 2 to 4 cm long, with the incorporated air being equal to 80%. For a long time, this characteristic led to the belief that it was impossible to spin this material, but thanks to the constant research and related studies carried out within the spinning department, the Drago Group has developed a correct manufacturing process which has led to the creation of “Etherique”.
“Etherique” revolutionizes the luxury market by subverting the rules through the fundamental principles of sustainability, combining classic with modern, history with evolution, by combining cotton threads and the Kapok, thus creating an entirely eco-sustainable fabric, in each and every step of its creation.
The productive structure of Drago is in Biella, the factories are situated in Lessona and Verrone. The spinning department is equipped with the latest generation machines and modern laboratory for the real-time quality controls on fiber and yarns. In the weaving department there are a modern frames able to realize the extra-fine fabrics. In Verrone, the finishing department provides the ‘hand’ to the fabrics. The styling office is located in Verrone, while the sales and administration offices are in Lessona.
The Drago fabrics contain the values of the selection of raw material and the excellent quality of the yarns that compose them. Drago Spa, increasingly attentive to the constant evolution of the development process and renovation of all business activities, works to ensure that all the various steps in the production process, both internal and external, are carried out with a view to eco-sustainability in full compliance with environmental respect and of the existing norms, thus achieving excellence through the overcoming of standard values. Drago Spa started with this project in cooperation with some important customers since 2016 in order to develop and implement new programs for environmental safeguard; this will bring inside the Biella Company to a significant evolution reaching very important targets. This project will be supported by the use of new technologies that can reduce consumption and help us improve our production and quality.
